The Las Vegas Job Market
Posted by LVRE under Las Vegas
Las Vegas has always been a place for new beginnings. Over the last couple of years an estimated 6,000 new residents moved here per month fueling a great economic boom, but with the recent bust in the housing market thousands of workers have been laid-off, multiple real estate and casino development projects delayed and hundreds of businesses closed their doors.
A few years ago the employment section was the size of a phone book. This weeks Sunday paper was a mere 4 pages. Does that mean that someone looking to move to Las Vegas can’t find a good job? No. It simply means that good jobs - jobs paying above $20 an hour with medical benefits, have fierce competition. The most abundant, well paying jobs are found at casinos which offer great pay with excellent benefits. Cocktail waitresses, bartenders and table dealers average $70,000 per year while slot attendants, casinos host, and hotel clerks also make good wages.
The healthcare industry in Las Vegas is always in need of nurses, doctors, administrators, and assistants. Government offices, medium size businesses, restaurant chains, and retail locations all need educated managers while every industry could use a great salesman. Like every city in America, Las Vegas is battling its own economic woes, but someone looking to move to Las Vegas will find a good job as long as they keep their mind open to possibilities, sharpen their resume and skills like they should anytime they’re looking for a job.
Las Vegas is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. The Las Vegas real estate market is clearly a primed market for those who wish to relocate from more costly areas of the nation.
